New, Nationally Syndicated Daily Daytime Talk Show Set to Debut from New York in Fall 2020
New York and Los Angeles - November 18, 2019 – Lionsgate’s Debmar-Mercury today announced FOX Television Stations will serve as the launch group for Nick Cannon, a daily, nationally syndicated daytime talk show premiering in September 2020 and originating from New York.
FOX will provide double runs of Cannon’s eponymous, live-to-tape daily daytime talk show in many of the nation’s top markets including New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia and San Francisco.
“We need to take big swings, and Nick Cannon should be a natural fit with our lineups,” said Frank Cicha, EVP of programming for FOX Television Stations. “Plus, he can help me a lot in our Masked Singer office pool.”
Cannon’s production company, Ncredible Entertainment, and Debmar-Mercury will co-produce the talker featuring his take on the latest in trending pop culture stories and other watercooler topics, celebrity interviews and other surprises.
Debmar-Mercury Co-Presidents Ira Bernstein and Mort Marcus said, “FOX has been an indispensable station group partner for us and we’re excited to team with them once again. They share our strong belief in Nick, a multi-talented force of nature who will bring his fresh approach and track record of success to daytime talk. Nick has been able to build a brand name across all platforms with unique ability to connect to the audience, which is exactly what you need to do to succeed in this competitive world.”
Cannon turns his attention to daytime talk after more than 20 years as a host, comedian, actor, producer, rapper, writer, director, deejay, philanthropist, children’s book author and activist. He has crushed primetime as host of two buzzworthy hit network series – FOX’s The Masked Singer, which returned strong for its second season this fall after finishing as the No. 1 new show of its rookie season (captivating more than 17 million multi-platform viewers in its record-breaking 2018 debut); and, for eight seasons, with NBC’s talent competition series, America’s Got Talent (AGT).
“It’s always been a dream of mine to host my own talk show, and I’m fortunate to have found great partners in FOX and Debmar- Mercury,” said Cannon. “My experience with FOX as a producer and host on both The Masked Singer, as well as the soon-to-air Nick Cannon’s Hit Viral Videos, has been exceptional. I’m looking forward to continuing our amazing track record together!”
In addition to hosting The Masked Singer and AGT, the prolific artist is perhaps best known for his work as a producer, creator and host for 13 seasons of the highly popular fan-favorite MTV sketch show, Wild ‘N Out, which the network has ordered through Season 16. In 2017, Cannon released his comedy special, Stand Up, Don’t Shoot, and concluded a cross-country live tour with select Wild ‘N Out comics and improvisation artists. In 2018, he launched the “Wild ‘N Out Live” Tour, embarking on a 25-city arena tour. “Wild ‘N Out Live” will begin a new 27-city arena tour in March 2020. He continues to thrive across many facets of the entertainment industry, including releasing music via his label, NCredible, and his full-length album, Model Music, via Republic Records; relaunching NCredible headphones partnership with T-Mobile which have sold over $80 million in retail to date, and opening the first Wild ‘N Out restaurant located on Miami’s glamorous Ocean Drive. A new Wild ‘N Out restaurant will be opening on Hollywood Boulevard this fall, as well as San Diego’s Gaslamp Quarter in 2020. Additionally, Cannon hosted FOX’s TEEN CHOICE 2018, Nickelodeon’s Lip Sync Battle: Shorties, and Nickelodeon’s HALO AWARDS, which he also served as creator and executive producer. This past July, Cannon took over the Los Angeles morning drive time radio airwaves launching Power 106’s “Nick Cannon Mornings.”
